In a pot, combine chopped red dates, water, and brown sugar. Bring to a boil, then simmer until the sugar dissolves and the mixture slightly thickens. Let it cool slightly.

Gradually pour the slightly cooled red date syrup into the flour mixture, stirring constantly to form a smooth batter. Ensure there are no lumps.
Lightly grease a steaming pan (e.g., an 8-inch round or square pan) with cooking oil.
Pour the batter into the greased steaming pan. Steam over high heat for 45-50 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the steamed red date cake cool completely before slicing and serving. It can be served warm or chilled.
