Ingredients

Proteins

  • 500 g Pork spare ribs, cut into 1.5-inch pieces
  • 1 tbsp Oyster sauce (for marinade)

Aromatics

  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 red chili Red chili, sliced (optional)
  • 0.25 tsp White pepper (for marinade)

Sauces & Seasonings

  • 1.5 tbsp Light soy sauce (for marinade)
  • 1 tsp Sugar (for marinade)
  • 0.5 tsp Sesame oil (for marinade)
  • 1 tsp Shaoxing wine (for marinade)
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch (for marinade)

Other

  • 300 g Pumpkin, peeled and cut into 1-inch thick slices
  • 1 tbsp Water (for marinade)

Instructions

    Rinse pork ribs and pat dry. Marinate with light soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, sesame oil, Shaoxing wine, white pepper, minced garlic, cornstarch, and water for at least 20 minutes.

    Arrange pumpkin slices evenly on a heatproof plate.

    Place the marinated pork ribs on top of the pumpkin slices. Sprinkle with sliced red chili if using.

    Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a rolling boil.

    Carefully place the plate with ribs and pumpkin into the steamer. Cover and steam over high heat for 18-20 minutes, or until ribs are tender and pumpkin is soft.

    Remove from steamer and serve hot.
